This is the desk light that I use on my desk. It’s a great light with no flickering. I have a stand up desk and this light clamps to my desk so I don’t have to worry about adjusting it when I raise or lower my desk. It just “goes along for the ride”. The arms can be moved to different angles depending on your specific needs. The angle and length of the light are perfect for lighting the immediate central 3/4ths of the desk which is where I need it for working with documents and other paperwork.
The clamp and the upright piece are metal and very secure. The lamp housing is metal. The piece that bends over the desk is a flexible material and has a groove to keep your cord out of the way. The lamp also has two Velcro (hook and loop) cord securing straps to keep the cord in place and out of the way. There are also two pre-drilled holes in the clamping bracket if you want to make the lamp more permanent or secure to your desk, however, the clamp is very sturdy. The lamp has warm, cool, and daylight settings as well as bright and dim settings. There is also a light on the top of the unit with bright/dim settings.
If you make money from your homestead, you need to have a good area for paperwork, so make sure you have a nice desk or table somewhere with good lighting.
