At our homestead, we really like the silicone pop-out cells on these trays. The silicone bottoms make removing the transplants easier without damaging the roots. This set also has ample holes in the bottom for drainage. The bottom tray and the planting tray are made of rigid clear plastic and should last through multiple seasons. The top cover is not as rigid as the bottom and planting trays, but should still last multiple seasons if cared for. There is an adjustable air vent in the top cover which is great because we start many of our seeds in the house where the air is dry. We keep the air vent nearly closed to maintain moisture on the young seedlings.
The set also comes with plant markers, a pen, and planting tools. Be warned, we feel the tools are a little cheap, but most homesteaders probably have other tools they prefer to use.
The bottoms are a clear plastic which allows you to see your roots and not allow them to become root bound. We really like using these and hope you try them. Let us know what you think if you do. – Bren
