I use frost protection cloths to start to grow early and to extend my Fall season. There are several reasons why I like this cloth. First, it is a thicker cloth and should last a couple seasons. Second, it is 10 feet wide which will work well with my bent 10 foot conduit pieces that I use to hold the cover over my 4 foot wide raised bed gardens. I like that it deters some pests (I seem to have problems with birds “plucking” seedlings from the ground). It is also reasonably priced. Finally, it allows a 75% light transmission which should be fine for many cool weather crops.

This is by-far my very favorite weeder. I’ve had mine for at least 15 years and it is still going strong. This is the weeder I use every day over the growing season. Mine has been used (and abused) and is still going strong.

I remember being hesitant about buying it because I thought it was pricey. However, looking back it was worth every penny and then some. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for the serious gardener.

This company also makes one that is on a long handle. I have it, too, and it is super. However, if I had to choose one, I would pick the hand weeder.  – Bren

I don’t have this exact tester, but this one is very similar to mine (mine is over 20 years old). This is a great way to start to understand your soil. Having the proper pH and moisture levels will help your plants tremendously. Having the light and nutrients tester is secondary to me, but some may find it helpful.

One thing I like about these meters is you don’t need batteries. How many times do you go to the field with something that requires batteries only to have to go back to the house to get new ones? No batteries is a big plus for me.
