Organic Peppermint Essential Oil in my opinion should be at every homestead. You can use it in homemade soap, hand lotion, or cleaning products to name a few uses.

The refreshing scent of peppermint is invigorating and energizing. I use it with a carrier oil like cold pressed apricot kernel oil.

I also using it in homemade cleaning products. I mix a quart of water with one cup each of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol. Add about 30 drops of peppermint essential oil and put in a spray bottle. I use it as a great surface cleaner.

This brand is made in the USA, which is always a win in my book. I am a strong believer in supporting USA producers and local businesses.

Typically, we buy our soap from some great local soap makers.  However, if you live remote or cannot find a local soap maker (and don’t want to make your own soap), we recommend Dr. Bronner’s Castile Bar Soap.  We have used it over 20 years and it is absolutely wonderful!  We keep bars of it on the sinks and in the shower.  We even use it for washing our faces and hair.  It is gentle and washes cleanly away without leaving a dry feeling.

Peppermint is our all time favorite, but it is also available in Almond, Citrus, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Rose, Tea Tree, and Unscented.

If you live the homesteading life, you know how dirty life can be.  We always keep a good supply of soap on hand.   (And, if you are a homesteader and you have figured out how to stay exceptionally clean, PLEEEEEASE TELL US HOW YOU DO IT!!!!!).

Baxstel Solar Lights

Baxstel Solar Lights

We absolutely love these solar lights.  At our homestead we have multiple strands and they work great!  We have two 50 foot strands to light our high tunnel greenhouse and more strands on the porch of the log home.  We also use them to light the paths to the chicken, duck, and pig houses.  They hold a charge for a long time and are a nice color of white.

Our lights have been through all four seasons and continue to go strong.  Using solar is cheaper than paying for electricity which we appreciate.  Having solar means we can put them anywhere.  On a large property, you don’t always have access to an electrical outlet.  Highly recommend buying these lights.

The below picture is one of our high tunnels lit up with these solar lights.  We used two strands in this tunnel (it is around 80+ feet long).  I love seeing the tunnels lit up at night in the winter months! – Bren

High Tunnel Gardening. Check out the high tunnel as it is lit with solar lights at sunset.
