Rada Cutlery

If you need a set of knives and vegetable peeler at a reasonable price, then this is it.   We have had Rada knives for many years (I think some of our knives are close to 20 years old).  These knives are a no frills, good quality, and simple cutlery set that will last you a long time.  We use the vegetable peeler and paring knife heavily while canning.

Silicone Donut Baking Tray

We love donuts!  (Maybe too much).  This baking tray is perfect because it makes nice bite-sized donuts.    The donuts are a cake like consistency.  We add toppings like icing and sprinkles or just a simple glaze.

The trays wash up very nicely and store well.  We have many silicone baking trays for various uses and silicone is our new favorite.  Gone are the days of the metal pans.

So, how do donuts fit on the homestead?  Well, everyone likes a sweet treat once in a while.  We always use raw organic cane sugar, honey, molasses, or maple sugar for our sweetener.  We fresh grind wheat or grains for the flour.  Finally, we try to incorporate some “healthy” vegetable aspect into the batter like grated carrots or grated zucchini.  Oh, so good!

Silicone Baking Mat

As an avid baker, I would not be without my silicone mats for rolling out dough. We have several sizes of these at the homestead because we use them so much.  Whether it’s homemade pizza dough, a pie, or cookies, these are the “go to” mats for making life easy.  They wash up easy and don’t take much space for storing.  I especially like the pre-printed circle sizes for shaping my pie dough.
